A double whammy of events helped F.A.C.E. (Fundraising in Arboleas, Caring for Everone) to raise thousands of €uro's over the last weekend of November. On the Friday evening [27th Nov], F.A.C.E. organised their now traditional Christmas Market, and on the Sunday afternoon F.A.C.E. organised a Christmas party. Both events were held in a huge marquee which had been erected in the Arboleas Feria Ground. On the Friday evening, there were over 50 market stalls selling a wide range of Christmas and other products. In addition support of the event was given by various regional and national charities such as M.A.C.S (Mojacar Area Cancer Support), the A.E.C.C. (Asociación Española Contra El Cáncer), the National Spanish Cancer Charity, and A.L.C.E.R. (Asociación para la Lucha Contra Las Enfermedades del Riñón) a National Spanish Charity that assists people with renal problems. The event was opened by the Deputy Mayor of Arboleas, Roger Done, accompanied by F.A.C.E. President Adele Wrigglesworth, before F.A.C.E. presented €1,000 to José Fenoy Ibánez of the A.L.C.E.R charity. Throughout the evening entertainment was provided by the Incognito Singers, a choir of over 20 voices led by Musical Director David Murphy, who on the Friday evening were making their debut public performance. They gave a top quality performance of Christmas music in several different languages and were superb. "Carrie's Dusty Boots" performed Pirates of the Dusty Carrie-bean, to music from the Johnny Depp film Pirates of the Carribean. Colourful costumes. scenery and the use of a smoke machine and above all fabulous dancing, went towards making a fabulous exhibition. Also there was head and beard shaving, tombola, raffles, a bar selling amongst other things F.A.C.E.'s famous mulled wine made to a secret recipe, and many other delights such as mince pies! there was also a hamburger stall. Most importantly of all of course was that Santa Claus was also in attendance. The Sunday afternoon was a more child orientated event with face painting, fancy dress competition and childrens games. However, once again the Incognito Singers were in attendance, as were "Carrie's Dusty Boots" who did a completely different routine called Snowy White and the Seven Dusty Dwarfs. More importantly though, especially for the children, was that Santa Claus was again in attendance. The F.A.C.E. Grand Christmas Raffle was also drawn during the afternoon, with the €200 First Prize going to Babs Kenningay. A full list of all the Prize Winners can be found on either the F.A.C.E. Facebook Page or on the F.A.C.E. Webpage at www.face-charity.com The grand total of money raised over the two events raised an amazing € 3,713.16, although there is still some sponsorship still to be counted. F.A.C.E. would like to thank all the stall holders, volunteers, sponsors, entertainers and Santa Claus for making these events the success they undoubtedly were.
